When a major financial organisation wanted to make indoor air quality (IAQ) improvements at several of its busy coin centres, our Gibbons Ultraviolet Solutions team was commissioned to deliver the project.
The client was aware of the benefits of ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) and decided to have us install our UVC air-disinfecting equipment within its HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) equipment.
The application of ultraviolet-C (UVC) light to air and surfaces of HVAC air-handling equipment destroys mould, virus and bacteria and Gibbons is an industry specialist in the supply and installation of such systems.
For this project, our engineers built a special slide frame within the air handling unit (AHU) to allow the UVC array to be easily accessed for the changing of lamps. Whilst installing this system, the engineers also fitted a cut-off switch which instantly deactivates the UVC lamps when the AHU door is opened.
After fitting two UVC lamps, along with all controls and cabling to the main AHU, we connected the 240V power read for the system to be energised.
Continued operation of our chemical-free system ensures mould, virus and bacteria cannot form and the client benefits from a minimal maintenance requirement.
Along with the provision and installation of our ultraviolet system within the air handling units, we’ve supported the client with UVC disinfection units for the staff toilets along with on-site air testing and validation services that confirm the system’s performance.
